I was asked to include this in my blog.

I will start by adding words I know I have used and as I write more I will add more terms.

mitzvah – a righteous or good deed (plural is mitzvot or in my case mitzvahs)

Rabbi – Jewish spiritual leader

Rebbetzin – a Rabbi’s wife

simcha – happy occasion

Shabbat – the Jewish Sabbath or day of rest celebrated by Jews from sundown on Friday evening until sundown on Saturday night. Also called Shabbos.

tzedakah – charity

Yartzeit – A yiddish word that is also used by non-Yiddish-speaking Jews it refers to the annual anniversary of the day of death of a relative. Yahrtzeit literally means “time of [one] year”. Usually a Jew will light a candle in memory of their loved one on this yearly anniversary.
